 Rarely does the opportunity come along to secure a very senior role that also offers flexibility. 

 Our client is a highly successful entrepreneur in the commercial, industrial and retail property sector.   The portfolio of interests encompasses 50 individual entities from single use to fully operating corporations with a variety of equity structures. The nature of the investments ranges from greenfields sustainable development through to hands off investment. 

 As a key trusted advisor, the role of Group Financial Controller is critical to the Group’s success. Despite its complexity, the last ten years has proven that this role can be performed in a flexible,  three day a week commitment. Our client is wishing to continue this approach and they seek to engage a new team member looking for a long term employment relationship. This is a perfect role for a senior financial executive who is seeking to work under a less than full time arrangement. The package for this role reflects its  seniority and is prorated for the three days worked.

  The key components of the role are:

 Oversee all aspects of the financial management , including:

·         Analysis of financial performance on a regular basis

·         Preparation of monthly financial accounts including cashflow forecasts

·         Preparation of company budgets and report on variances

·         Compliance with all periodic lodgements from IAS and BAS through to tax returns and ASIC requirements.

·         Ensure effective tax strategies

·         Management of payroll and superannuation transactions

·         Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.

 Provide strategic advice as follows:

·         Developing new investment projects including commercial, industrial, retail and six star building developments.

·         Representing the Group’s interests in discussions with joint venture partners, existing and potential.

·         Preparation of risk benefit analyses/ROI schedules for proposed projects and provide post implementation reviews on investment performance.

·         Recommendations and management of funding arrangements  as appropriate including negotiations with institutions, lawyers etc

·         Preparation of Board reports as required

 To be successful in this role you must be a CPA or CA with at least  ten years working within a complex investment portfolio preferably with property exposure and multiple stakeholder management.   Knowledge of alternate financing vehicles and experience in negotiations within the banking industry would also be advantageous. Your tax knowledge is sound but more importantly, you are accustomed to briefing tax specialists.  

 Given the flexible nature of the role, you must be self motivated, self directed and used to working in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment. You will be politically astute with an ability to deal with all types of personalities. Detail is your middle name and you are extremely well organised.
