Priorities was formed in 2005 by Kate Webster and Jackie Cook. They recognized from their own experiences that there was a vast untapped market of well qualified and highly capable individuals available to work in meaningful roles if those roles could accommodate some form of flexibility.

Based in Balwyn East, Kate and Jackie are joined by qualified trainers and administration staff who assist with ensuring our standards and commitment to service excellence are maintained.

The idea for Priorities was born one night in the pub at Phillip Island while the children played cards and a group of mothers bemoaned the lack of support available for them to return to work. The concept was further refined by Kate and Jackie over the course of a year of early morning walks and, when the time was right and the research and reskilling finished, Priorities was launched.

The first recruitment and training organisation to specialise solely in part-time and flexible job creation Priorities has been at the forefront of the current wave of interest in these types of roles. Research undertaken by Priorities prior to starting the business had flagged the coming skills shortage and identified parents returning to work and experienced workers wishing to downsize their careers as a potential solution to Australia's employment needs. Already here and wanting to work, these 'under-employed' members of our workforce make up a sizable percentage of the un-tapped talent pool available to the workplace. The journey from those first tentative discussions to the successful and established business that Priorities is today has taken a little under three years, truly remarkable from a business that began over a glass of wine and was developed in the dawn hours!
